Mix Coach Pro membership

The truth about being a Mix Coach Pro Member. If you are considering becoming a Mix Coach Pro member, then please jump to the bottom part of this post. At the bottom of this post I have added a section about my new guide and training videos that help new  Mix Coach Pro members. The guide and videos are free, by simply using my links to join Mix Coach Pro! So, if you are considering joining up, use my links and I will send you the guide for free!

Is becoming a better mixer something you are inspired to do?

If so, then you and I are alike. I took a step in the right direction, and it has paid off, and paid off big!

Let me share what I have learned with you. Are you really getting better at mixing?

If I had to tell you only one thing that has excelled my mixing skills by the greatest factor, without thinking I would tell you “actually mixing with professionals each month”. This is just what I do, each month, being a Mix Coach Pro Member. If your mixing skills have seemed to stall or not go anywhere, then it is time to shake things up! I have a valuable resource for you, that can actually help accelerate your mixing skills up to that of a professional mixing engineer.

Here is the deal…

Become a Mix Coach Member, for only 39 bucks (U.S. dollars) each month, and get ready to be amazed with your personal growth! This (39 bucks each month) is a steal, as you get a ton of content; in the form of monthly mix videos to watch, and the actual song files (or the actual tracks) that the Mix Coach crew mix themselves in the monthly videos! That way you mix the same song as the Mix Coach crew does! On top of that great content, you also get a personal mix critique each month, just to help you “hone in” on the areas of your own mixing that might need some more work. I typed those words because I firmly stand behind Kevin Ward, The Mix Coach, and all of his training products that I have seen thus far.

OK, hold on. Since you are reading through this review that tells me that you are looking to improve your mixing skills, so let me “sweeten the pot” a tad. Let me toss in some special gifts, just for you.

If you use any of the links supplied in this review I will receive a small piece of the sale. I want to give you something for using these links to make your purchases. As my way of saying thank you, if you use any of these links to purchase I will give you some very special, very detailed gifts, aimed right at you, the person that is willing to learn more about recording, mixing, and mastering.

Let me tell you about the new Home Recording Weekly “Home Studio eBundle that is ready and waiting for you. Inside the Home Recording Weekly “Home Studio eBundle” you will find not one, not two, but three amazingly helpful video training products that will transform how you approach recording, mixing, and mastering in your home studio. They are titled, “Midi Transformation”, “Perfect V.I. Bass and Guitars”, and “The Pro Mixers Playbook“.

New Products

Each individual training product, found inside the Home Recording Weekly “Home Studio eBundle“, contains multiple “How to” style videos that are made up of both “screen capture” style videos and some videos that were shot right inside my very own home studio. Each training product packed inside the Home Recording Weekly “Home Studio eBundle” has been recorded, edited, and mixed down with a few main things in mind.

First, I know that “Content is king”. Each video contains quality, unique content that I, personally, just could not find anywhere else. Next, the quality of the audio and of the picture is the best I have ever produced. The lighting and the audio has to be right in order for you to see and hear what I am explaining in the videos, in order for you to get the most out of the videos. I worked very hard to create video training that is helpful in nature, unique in content, and killer in features like audio and lighting. These are the best production tips and techniques that I have learned that have taken my mixing over the top, and rocketed my skills to the best they have ever been.

Let me break down, quickly, what is covered in each training series:

Midi Trans

MIDI Transformation” is my version of how to get the most realistic sounding, human-like MIDI in your productions. MIDI can be one of the most confusing things to learn when it comes to making music in your home studio. But, it does not have to be! Let me explain to you some of the best ideas for dealing with MIDI, and some of the best tips that helped me obtain believable MIDI parts for recordings that I have helped to produce. Plus, I toss in a whole section dealing with how to write, work, and then export your MIDI drums into common, studio like “Drum Stems”. Since were all used to working with drum stems (stereo over heads, snare top, snare bottom, kick, tom mics, room mics, hi hat, and rides) why shouldn’t we export our MIDI into real world drum stems? This is how we then mix our MIDI drums into believable, human sounding drums for our mixes. There is years of hard work and years of tough learning boiled down and crammed inside this awesome training video series.

Perfect V.I. Bass and Guitars” is your ticket to realistic sounding bass and guitars, via your favorite “Virtual Instrument” plugins/guitar and bass simulation software. These “V.I.’s have often times gotten a bad rap, but that is simply because folks are not using the features to the best of their ability. But not using the VI feature sets to their fullest isn’t the only reason they are getting “less than” sounding bass and guitars. There is also a whole host of things that we can all do in order to make our “V.I. bass and guitars” fit better in our music, and put them over the top when it comes to “listener believability”. These techniques and workflows have taken me years to develop, but you can have then today!

Watch along as I track a session, from start to finish, detailing each import step as I go. I start with the bass and work it to perfection using a host of tools like Amplitube Ampeg, Audio bending/time shifting, Melodyne, EQ, compression, and so much more. Each video continues the journey from “DI” bass, to an amazing, “in the pocket”, believable bass. The information found inside “Perfect V.I. Bass and Guitars” has taken me an incredibly long time to discover, via an endless amount of “trial and error”, which you will not find anywhere else, period. If you like using todays best “amp sim/V.I.’s” to enhance your bass and/or guitars, or if you want to learn way more than you currently know about the whole process, then “Perfect V.I. Bass and Guitars” is for you.

The Pro Mixers Playbook

Learning how to mix like the pros can be the most rewarding thing we ever do. It can also be the most frustrating thing we ever do. Why does learning how to mix have to be so difficult?

The truth is there is a lot of information out there, broken up into quick little video chunks, some over here, and some over there, and, well, in a lot of different places. Learning just one brand new mixing technique can take you to many different places that all seem to have somewhat competing information.

For this very reason, I have been hard at work, putting something rather special together that I call “The Pro Mixers Playbook”. I have made over 4.5 hours of training videos together, in one easy to download PDF file. I have listed, and then made corresponding videos for the most powerful, the most “mix-shaping” 15 Pro mixing plays that have had the most impact (hands down) with my own mixes. This is a mixing foundation just waiting to happen. There is something new and rewarding, for new mixers and pros alike, inside in “The Pro Mixers Playbook”.

The entire Home Recording Weekly “Home Studio eBundle” is just my way of saying “THANK YOU!!!” for using any one of my links to purchase any one of the training videos that I have reviewed for you, right here, on Home Recording Weekly.

If you are interested in learning the best of the best techniques for creating and then exporting realistic sounding MIDI parts, learning more about using software like Amplitube in order to get believable bass and guitars in your productions, or learn the most impactful mixing techniques, that will totally transform your mixes, all in video form, then get your own copy of Home Recording Weekly “Home Studio eBundle” today.

OK, back to the review at hand……

I have reviewed “Guide to Rock Mixing” in the past. That was my first introduction to Kevin Ward, The Mix Coach, and the amazing content that he puts out constantly. Let me add that this amazing content has not stopped since then.

Check this out… I have been quietly mixing each month, as a Mix Coach Pro Member. I have been receiving and mixing a monthly “Mix Coach Pro Membership” (cool song files, or tracks, to mix, tutorial videos that show how recording and mixing professionals mixed the exact same song files, plus a lot of bonus videos and material), as a test. I wanted to test drive the “Mix Coach Pro Membership” content, first hand, just to see for myself if it could help my mixing skills. Then, I could report back to you with my findings. The answer to this test??? What have I found out???

I have turbo charged my learning! Being a Mix Coach Pro Member has paid off, and paid off in a big way. Each month I learn a ton about how professionals “get around problems”, and turn the problems into opportunities to apply their newly learned skills. I have learned how to better apply EQ and compression, as well as limiters, distortions, busses, reverbs, and so, so much more. The fear of simply not knowing how to even start a mix is gone. Gone, too, is the curiosity of how professionals “get that sound”.

Actually seeing a professional like Kevin Ward himself, or one of his small crew, mixing the exact same song files (tracks) that you have is the key. The downloadable monthly mixing tutorial videos are truly amazing. They explain each step of the mixing process in clear, easy to follow detail. I learn so much from just watching the videos, alone, that I have gained a new confidence. A confidence to return to my own mix and apply the tricks that I have just learned! I have learned how to approach a mix, where to start a mix, how to often times simplify the mix process, and when to end a mix. Believe it or not, simply knowing where to start a mix and when to finish a mix can be a confusing thing. Thanks Mix Coach!

Here is the proof, that  simply becoming a Mix Coach Pro Member will improve your mixing skills…

My mixes were bad. When it came to mixing, I knew about panning tracks and basic level setting, but little else. I loved my music, but my mixes sounded awful. I will own that. I wanted friends to hear my songs but my mixes were turning them off. Sound familiar to you?

After becoming a Mix Coach Pro Member, and then mixing along each month, for about 6 months, I decided that it was time to see what I had learned. I uploaded one of the monthly songs (that I mixed) to the Mix Coach critique page. I almost died when they critiqued my mix. All that they had to say (in the monthly personal critique video) was that my bass seemed “too powerful”. This was something that I knew in advance. I could not believe that the only thing they had to suggest was something that I already knew. Then, the mix engineer explained that for my first mix upload, I had done an amazing mix! I have coma a long way in a short time. They also gave me a few different ways to cut the bass back in my mix.

My mixes have improved to the point that a professional mix engineer actually complimented my mix! What can becoming a Mix Coach Pro Member do for your mixing? How about the exact same thing it has done for me! C’mon guys, it is time to get good at mixing! Follow this link and change your life forever.

Here is a link over to my review of  “Guide to Rock Mixing“, also from Kevin Ward, “The Mix Coach”. This is also a great video for learning what you will have to know in order to record and mix live musicians. You will watch Kevin do important functions like “pocket drums, bass, and vocals in a mix”. If you need to brush up on how to fix things like phase issues, compression, EQ, and all that is mixing, then check out my review of “Guide to Rock Mixing“.

A guide to being a productive Mix Coach Pro Member“, free EBook and training video series.

If you are “on the fence” about weather to join and become a Mix Coach Pro member then please let me have your attention. If you feel that your mixes could be a lot better if you only had a little push into the right direction, then listen up. If you have recently joined as a Mix Coach Pro member but you are having difficulty following along with the content, or your mixes are not improving like they should, then I have what you want!

I have put together an EBook and “Mix Coach training video” bundle that I am calling A guide to being a productive Mix Coach Pro Member. It is yours, absolutely free, as long as you either use my links to become a member, or you have used one of my links to join in the past.

What is in the  A guide to being a productive Mix Coach Pro Member? Let me assure you that the guide is chock full of great information. I have written an EBook that walks you through what exactly is inside the month to month content, where to find the multi track files, what each tab on the website is, each step of downloading the month to month content, how to upload your mixes, and my own guide to rapid learning using the tools that come with being a Mix Coach Pro member!

That’s right, I detail my system for setting up my sessions from scratch, how to mix like the guys at Mix Coach, how to get the most out of your membership, plus I even detail some of my personal settings for things like bus compression. I have made it my personal mission to bring each new member up to speed on the same techniques that the Mix Coach guys use when mixing..

Skip to the bottom of this post, right now, if you simply want to learn how to receive your free A guide to being a productive Mix Coach Pro Member right now.

Here are some examples of what you can learn from the included training videos:

Mixing in mono. What does “mixing in mono mean? How do we set up our sessions so that we can mix in either mono and/or stereo? How does mixing in mono help us? If you ask yourself these sorts of questions then please allow me to offer you some help. I can clarify the entire process, and help you to better understand the benefits of mixing in mono.

Bus compression. So, maybe you have heard Kevin Ward mention this important mixing technique. Maybe you understand the idea but you would like a much better understanding of the whole process. Whatever your situation, you will have a much better grasp of exactly why we use bus compression, and how to use it in your very own Mix Coach Pro member mixes from now on.

Correcting phase issues, or “flipping the phase”. If you have heard about flipping the phase or not, you need to be aware of what it actually is. Heck, sometimes it just comes down to a mixing engineers personal taste. Let me show you what phase is all about and how to know when it needs to be reversed or flipped. Once you know what to listen and look for, you will be a much better mixer. The guys at Mix Coach perform this trick regularly, so it helps to learn what it is prior to joining.

Hi and Low pass filters. These go on every track over at Mix Coach. Maybe you have heard that now famous saying “Hi pass everything”, and you are just not too sure what that means. Let me show you exactly what they are talking about. I will also show you basic EQ stuff, like notch filters, that you will need to know to go along with your new Mix Coach Pro member subscription.

Plus, as an extra bonus, for the Mix Coach Website itself, in both the EBook and the videos I explain:

What are they using for plug ins in the videos? Oftentimes John and Kevin fail to mention the name of the plugin that they are using and what it is that they are adjusting on the plugins themselves. I am not bashing on them here. I think that after repeating the exact same function on every track, time and time again, they simply stop mentioning it. New members often times feel frustrated. I will show you what is going on.

Where do I find the content, and how do I get started mixing? Great questions. I have your answers too! I will walk you through the process in a minute, I promise!

“Navigating the Mix Coach website”. A “tab by tab” walk through of the entire website.

“Key to rapid growth”. Plus, as one last bonus for you,  I give you a key to being a fast learning Mix Coach Pro member. I have learned an entire process of going through the monthly content, and making it pay off big. I will walk you through the steps and the ideas behind the steps that have helped me to become the mixer that I am. I also explain how to go through these steps, in a time sensitive method, as to better use all of the tools at hand.

A guide to being a productive Mix Coach Pro Member” is a free EBook and video series bundle, yours for simply clicking my link when joining the Mix Coach Pro member. It is my way of saying “Thank You”, and a way for me to give back.

So, how does this work? You might be asking yourself how can you obtain your free guide and the videos. Glad you asked. I tried to keep this as easy as I could.

you sent me an email to thus mix coach pro. I signed up but the cost was $39 a month, not $27. Had no box or link to add the discount codes. So thank you much.

    • Kern says:

HHMMM, I wonder what is going on. Did you speak to Mix Coach about this? I can help you to find out more if you cant get any answers. I assume the price has gone up since I posted, let me check on that too.

  2. Jason says:

    Hey kern,
Mix coach pro or dueling mixes? I can only afford one. Thanks, looking fwd to th next podcast

    • Kern says:

This is not easy. What do you like best? Two videos, two mixers, a webinar each month, or mix critique and one mix video? Both do the exact same things for your mixing. I love them both the same, but for various reasons. Sorry that I am not much help to you. I started out with Dueling, and then became a member of both, and I still am today.
